I have been making pottery for almost 30 years. I have a studio at home and I teach ceramics at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts. There is a duality in what I make, whether it is a simple bowl or a vase. There is a quiet grace or beauty in the simple lines of the form or the landscape of its surface. Function and art together. I primarily make my pots out of porcelain. I fire my work to cone six and cone nine using electric and gas and sometimes wood in the Anagama kiln at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts.

I am a self-taught ceramic artist born in Brazil, blending the rustic and the delicate in each of my creations. I love working with raw, rugged forms paired with intricate, delicate designs, or sometimes the reverse—simple forms with textured, earthy finishes. My work reflects a deep connection to my heritage and a pursuit of simple beauty, where contrasts come together to tell a story.

I focus mainly on hand-building techniques, using Mishima to sketch drawings onto my pieces, then paint glazes on like watercolors. Working with clay is a meditative practice that brings me a sense of emotional peace and physical healing. My aim is to celebrate the beauty and magic of the world around us and to encourage others to rediscover their own connection to nature.

I use stoneware clay to create both functional and one-of-a-kind pottery.  All of my work is wheel thrown, though some of it is hand altered after leaving the potter's wheel.  Each piece is bisque fired, glazed, and then re-fired to cone 10 in a gas kiln.  All glazes are lead free and safe for use in the microwave, dishwasher, and conventional oven.  My work is designed and intended for every day use and enjoyment.
